The Connection & Comprehension Series

I’m excited to introduce you to The Connection & Comprehension Series, a picture book collection designed not only to entertain but to deepen emotional connection and reading comprehension for children ages 0–10 — and the grown-ups reading with them.

This growing series currently includes three completed titles:

• Whiny Walter – a Highland cow learning resilience in the Scottish Highlands

• Grateful GiGi – a warmhearted giraffe exploring gratitude on an African safari

• Sharing Scott – a playful otter discovering generosity in Yellowstone National Park

Each book combines story and reflection: after every few pages, children are gently invited to pause and respond to age-appropriate connection questions. These questions encourage reflection, emotional awareness, and conversation — bridging storytime with real-life social-emotional learning in a way that’s fresh, natural, and impactful. With distinct settings, lovable characters, and universal lessons, the goal is to complete 10–15 books in the series, with each story pairing a value-driven narrative with a beautifully rendered global location.

As a mom of two and lifelong reader, I found myself craving books that made space for meaningful connection — and when I couldn’t quite find what I needed, I decided to write them myself. With an English double major and a career that’s honed both my business and creative instincts, I’ve channeled that energy into a collection that I believe fills a unique and important gap in the current market.
